SOLDIER’S ATTACKERS ESCAPE. J (Received October 10th, 5.5 p.m.)' LONDON, October 9th. Two Irish girls have been awarded £2OO apiece owing to Sinn Feiners cutting off their hair. s ' A military tbrry, conveying stores to Fort Elizabeth, was passing through a crowded street in Cork when a number of bombs were thrown and shots tired. One bomb exploded on the'lorry and another beside it. One soldier was killed, four others dangerously wounded. Four civilians, including a girl, were also sent to the hospital. Two soldiers on the lorry who were uninjured opened fire on the attackers, who suffered one casualty, though all, evaded capture. INCENDIARY BOMBS THROWN BY UNIFORMED MAN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. , (Received October 30th, 5.5. pfm.) LONDON, October 9th. Partly uniformed men threw incendiary bombs into the Cork City Hall. The fire brigade succeeded in confining the fire to the Public Health office. It is believed that the outrage was by way of reprisal for the murder of a soldier. DISORDER AT ALDERSHOT SYMPATHISERS CAUSE DISTURBANCE. (Received October 11 12.15 a.m.) LONDON. October 10. ■ A number of Irish Guards and several of the Coldstream Guards at Aldershot have been arrested for parading in the streets howling and shouting wildly. Their comrades and iuob attempted to batter in the doors of the barracks to secure their release, and disorder continued until a late hour. MAIL TRAIN ROBBED MORE COMPENSATION AWARDED Masked men held up the BelfastCavan mail train and removed official corresjiondence. .The judge has awarded £25,000 compensation jor Republican outrages in South Donegal. Constable Roden, a native of Hunt, ingdon, who was wounded in the Upperchurch ambush, was awarded £2BOO.
