Jefferd intends to bring a big team to the Wellington meeting this month. He has secured boxes for seven ‘ horses. Since the conclusion of tho wpr there have been several additions to the ranks of owners in Wellington, and at the present time there are hourly 100 horses in work at Trentham. It is thought that B. J. Mason, who is at, present in Australia, will be back in New Zealand in time for the Wellington meeting. He has booked accommodation for four horses at Tren thara, and would have needed one more had Gloaming not gone wrong. The Bardolph youngster at Trentham has grown well, and if good looks are a guide he will be a nuisance to some of the company which will oppose him Tigrinia won very easily at Napiei, and looks certain to score again. Tho imported horse Swift Flight, who arrived in Auckland recently, has gone into A Asprey’s stable. He will be put into work .shortly. His importer is Mr J. Hislop, who brought out Arrbwsmith. ■- ■ -■ It is quite probable that Mr G’. Himter’e Gaming Bill, a measure of great interest to sportsmen, will come on for its second reading in the House of Representatives on Monday. Sasanoff’a full-sister, Mouboa Ivanova. was given a couple of runs in public last week, and she gave indications that she . will very soon be at her best again. F. Tilley is bringing four horses to the Wellington meeting, J. McCracken four, W. Hobbs five, and the Cutts brothers five. ' : J. Bryce’s New Zealand Trotting Cup trio—Matchlight, Moneymaker, and Erin’s Queen —continue to train on the right way, and there is every prospect of them all seeing the post. The cables informed us recently that Donoghue, the crack English horseman, had had a tempting offer made to him to go to India and ride there. Racing seems to he in the boom, or on the verge of a boom, in the land of the rupee, judging by what one reads in oversea prints. Rich stakes are being offered, and owners are reaching out in search of horses capable winning them, and horsemen skilled sufficiently to get tho best out of the horses. Some very fair horses have gone across from Australia, others are following, and. : a few have gone-from New Zealand. ,>
