WRONGFULLY COLLECTING AT LYTTELTON.
Robert Napier Wickham, who was described by Chief-Detective "Ward as a "professional' schemer,'' and., for whom Mr C A. L. Treadwell appeared, was remanded' ta appear at. Christ-, church, on Saturdays on a -seriouscharge ol collecting .the-, sum of £11; 15s 3d from Mr McPherson, at Lyttelton, on Aiigust 7th, while purporting to be acting for the A.M.P. So-. ciety. ,_. . For. it was stated that, ho ivas representing the A.M.P. .Societyit, Lyttelton and procured, the- .money the; morning before he _ came. to "Wellington, where, on arrival, he found illnekjj! amongst his family, and : his, child died, consequently he omitted to restore the money....
