DEMPSEY' DEFEATS MISKE WORLD'S BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. BENTON HARBOUR., September 6. Dempscj- knocked out Miske in the third round.
In the first'round, Miske hooked his left to Dempsey's head, and danced round. Then Dempeey landed a right and a left and two rights to the head, and the two exchanged body punches. In the second round, tho boxers rushed into a clinch. Dempsey landed, a left hook on the breaK-away, and floored Misko with the right, and ho took the count for five. In round three, Dempsey' danced round and hooked bard with the right to the body.. Misko landed a left on the jaw, and Dempsey swung hw right, knocking Miske down. An Miske climbed up, swung nw right to tho chin, and Mieke was knocked out. FURTHER DETAILS TERRIFIC HIT ENDS THE CONTEST. (Received September 7, 8.45 p.m.) MONTREAL, September 6. Three hard smashes retained the championship for Dempsey. The end nearly came in round one, when Dempsey drove a pile-driver under the heart. Misko's groan was heard all over the arena. He fell into a clinch to save himself, and tenaciously clung to Dempsey, while the referee tried to force the men apart. He never fully recovered, and showed he was a badly hurt man. Miske went down the first time m the second round, when Dempsey crashed another into him, hurting his As the pair met in the third round M'iske. shifted his position and surprised the champion with a terrific .left hook to the jaw, but Dempsey got m a similar blow a* once and Miske collapsed. . , Misko rose at the count of nine ana gazed dazedly over the throng.
