DISTURBED AREAS
SITUATION IN MESOPOTAMIA. AN IMPROVEMENT SHOWN. Renter's Telegram. LONDON,* September 2. A War Office communique states: The situation in Mesopotamia shows eome improvement in the disturbed areas, but disaffection is growing in district* not Tot in open rebellion. Rebels attacked the Samuab railway station on August 29th, and it i» still invested. Muntifio Arabs, aroused by fanatics preaching the Jehad, and the withdrawal of British political officers, attacked the Samarra station, and captured a forry, which was retaken by local levies. The tribesmen were dispersed. The Istabulat station was attacked and burnt. An attack on the Sumeicha station wae repulsed. East of Mosul, Sierchi tribes seized Batas, and are now attacking tho garrison at Rowanduz. ' The _ garrison ,at Kingi-' bran is being relieved.
