Cable Association. . ■ •■ » "WASHINGTON, September 2 TW Lower House of the State Legislature of Tennessee voted to reconsider its approval of tho women's suffrage amendment, on ground that a quorum of tho members was not * present upon the occasion of the pro vioue vote. Mr Colby, Secretary oi ite, stated that tho action of the Tennessee Legislature raises a question with which the State Department is. not primarily concerned. Ho has pro mulgated a proclamation of ratification of the suffrage amendment. Suffrage leaders feel secure in their helief that the legality of the ratification cannot be questioned, but it is expected that tho Supreme Court will be called on to settle the issue.
By voting recently in favour of svomen's suffrage, the Tennessee State Legislature turned the balance, and made the system part of the Federal constitution. The decision of tho State hag a. great influence on tho Presidential election because of tho great number of women who become entitled to vote.. :
