Massey, PC, Prime Minister; Wellington.- bir— The members of the Women's National Council (Wellington branch) wish to spare you a deputation because we are told these are becoming very numerous and monotonous. We have therefore decided to approach you by .letter about a very important matter—tho appointment, of suitable women to all public boards, commissions aiid official positions (e.g., officers in Magistrate's Courts) where matters affecting. tho- welfare ot women and children come-under review. Tho Board- Of Trade.- the Anti-Pro-fiteering Tribunals, the Education Department, and the Magistrates Courts ire some of these, and this council is of opinion that women are badly needed in all these places. ■ ■ In England there is hardly a Commission or board appointed to derfl wjth any social and domestic question. Again, you yourself, sir, were once reported as saying that the high cost of living hits women hard. Relying on these sentiments and on the zenerous way iu which you championed the Woman a Parliamentary Rights Extension Bill, we feci sure that you will see your way to appoint women as soon as possible, to the above-mentioned positions, and that in the future women represontatnes wall never ba forgotten in such places. We have the honour to be," sir, your obedient servants (Sgd.) N. E. Coad, president; Anna P. Stout, Clara Chapmail, vicepresidents; R. Magill, hon.secretary.
