CASUALTIES
DEATH OF A CHILD. PALMERSTON NORTH FATALITY. An inquest was held on Friday ncs the. "Times" Palmerston North correspondent) concerning the death of a two-months'old child of Mr Joseph ' William Hinchcy, clerk, Public Trust Office. The child was found sleeping face downwards on the pillow. Mrs Hinohev lifted the baby and found it was dead. The coroner. Mr A. J. Graham, J.P.. said that there were no suspicious circumstances. in the case, which showed only a, sad error of judgment. A verdict that tho child died from suffocation through misadventure was returned. SHIP'S FIREMAN DISAPPEARS. A fireman on the. steamer Karort, by nam© Robert O'Brien, aged 40,' and a single man, disappeared during tho trip of tho vessel from Westport _to Aucklaaid, says -a Press Association message. He' was last seen in his bunk at 11.15 p.m. on Saturday, and was reported misa'JDg at 12.30 a.m. O'Brien signed on at "Wellington in 1917.
