N.Z. COUNCIL MEETS. REPRESENTATIVE AND CLUB MATCHES. Tie New Zealand Council of the Football Association held a meeting last evening, which was presided over by Mr C. B. Fordbam. The following officials wore appointed for the Poverty Bay v. Wellington Brow n shield match, which takes r>laco at the Basin Beserve next t 'turday :—Pefereo, Mr O. Black , (Cristphurch);, linesmen, Messrs B. Josephs Bay). • FURTHER CHALLENGES. • Tho Wellington Football Association, being holders of the Brown Shield,' forwarded a challenge., in the event of their losing the. trophy. The Wanganui Association also forwarded a challenge, "both of which were accepted by the council. • • POSITION: OF SHIELD MATCHES. Tho positions of the Brown Shield matches to be played are as follow: Poverty Bay v. Wellington (holders), nest Saturday; Auckland will challenge Wellington (provided the latter still detain the shield), on August 28th. Then the ..Wanganui match will be probably, on September ,4th, if Wellington are still the holders. Tho Wellington Association . further advised that they would play Wanganui in any case. An endeavour to ! arrange a match " with Auckland at Auckland was also put forward by WeJlington. The secretary (Mr B. L. Salmon) was instructed to _ thank thje Wellington Football Association for its effortg in J endeavouring to further the game.
