CUSTOMS DUTIES
IMPORTERS CHARGED WITH INVASION. At the Onristchurch Magistrate's Court yeeterdav- Harry Tallerman and Edmund Russell Jones., importers, carrying on 'business at Auckland under the name of Tallerman and Co., were charged that, with intent to defraud the revenue of the Customs .by evading, or enabling some other person to evade payment of full dutv on ten cases of chinaware, they did make an entry which was erroneous; in that the declaration made by B. R. Jones,, as required by tho Customs Act, 1913; stated the fair market value of the goods at «4J6 lis 6d, whereas the value was, in Tact, .£362 Os -3d.A separate information has also been laid against Edmund Kuasell Jones. Mr A. T. Donnelly, Act-ing-Crown prosecutor, asked for an adjournment till August 24th, and this was granted.—Press Association telegram.
