LORD JELLICOE. It is now stated that Admiral 'LottS Jellicoe, tlic Governor-General designate of New Zealand," has definitely arranged to leave for the Dominion by the Gorinthic, which is expected to sail this week. Lord Jellicoo was. a guest at the dinner tendered to Sir Thomas Mackenzie, the retiring High Commissioner. Mr T. H. Patterson, of the Department of Agriculture, Auckland, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr Albert Spencer, president of the 'Auckland Employers' Association, is in Wellington. Mr J. Reid, Clerk of Awards at Chiistchurch, has been transferred tc Wellington. Mr H. Y. W 7 iddowson, S.M., Duna din, lias been offered the position ol judge at Samoa, says a southern <papot. Mr G. C. Carnie, who has been sta. tionmastor at Waikouaiti for the past fivo years, has been promoted to Bluff. Mr G. E, Svkes, M.P., is at present confined to his home in Masterton with, a mrld attack of influenza. Pa-ofessrair Hunter and Mr T. Forsyth have returned to Wellington from Masterton.
Mr H. Buckleton, general mana-ger for the Bank of New Zealand, who haa been in Auckland and Hamilton, is returning to Wellington to-morrow.
Mr W. G. McDonald, chairman of the Board of Trade, arrived back in Wellington yesterday after spending the week-end in Ohristoliuroh.
Mr and Mrs Cuthbert East, late oi Timaru, passed through Wellington on •Monday last en route for their new home in Whangarei.
Mr H. G. Motoxe, of Palmerston North, will leave Wellington for America by the Marama this month. He will bo accompanied by Mrs Moore.
Mr 11. Murray, wlio (has been Government valuer in Christchurch for twenty years, will retire soon on superannua/tion.
Mr James Douglas Hutchison, -I/L.8., solicitor, was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by His Honour the Chief Justice. Sir Robert Stout, yesterday.
Captain Sir R. Muirhead Collins, official secretary of the Australian High Commissioner's office in London, has definitely decided to - make his future home iia Victoria, and will leave in October. .
Mr H. McKeowen, who has been attached to the chief mechanical engineer's branch of the Railway Department ■ for the past twenty-five 'years, has received notice of his promotion to the locomotive branch at Greymouth.
Infamtition has been received that Captain W. H. P. McKenzie, M.C., of Dunedin, has been appointed general secretary of the Australasian Student Christian Movement, with headquarters in Melbourne. .
Mr J.'Nevin Tait, London representative of Messrs J. and N. Tait, recently returned to" Ixihdbn from a visit'.to'the Stated. He has secured ''lrene" Air Australia, and has engaged Mr John for a series of concerts. He will shortly pay a visit to Australia and New Zealand.
Mr H. M- Butcher (Dunedin), tho architectural student, has been successful in winning tho Lever Prize in connection with, town planning. This it an annual award given by Lord Leverhulihe of the value af £6O, and is tenable for two years at London University.
Mr Charles Bickerton, tiiird son oi Professor Bickerton. one time of Canterbury College, has died at Invercar-gf-11 after a brief illnessv Mr Bickerton, wfcla was 44 years of age, was born and educated in Ohristchvurch, and _at an early age he attended the Ohristehurch School of Art. He showed marked ability, and carried off many prizes.
Mr A.: S. Adams was at a meeting of the Otago members of the Society of Accountants congratulated by the chairman (Mr Peterson) on his recent eppointment as Grown Prosecutor in Dunedin. Mr raterson said that XLAdams was eminently fitted for the position, a statement which was heartily applauded.
Mr Thomas "White, of Young, New South Wales, one of the oldest* Aus-tralian-born inhabitants, died recently lin his 102nd year. He was a native of Tasmania. Always engaged in openair life as a pastoralist,. the deceased was wont to declare with pride that with his robust constitution he had never consulted a doctor.

The funeral of tho late Mr A. P. Dryden took place yesterday, and was attended by a large and representative gathering. The chief mourners wero Mr H. E. Dryden (cousin of the doceased) , and Messrs George Pirie and J. Bovin, while the pall-beaxea-s - were Messrs E.-: Dryden (brother) and six officers representing the different branches of the Chief Post Office. Among others present wore Messrs -TV. R. Morris (Public Service Commissioner), F. J. Chisholm f Acting-Chief Postmaster), A. T. Markham (Acting-Secre-t>ary of the Post O'ffice),' P. Macnamara (Acting-Assistant-Secretary), A Gibbs, (Chief Telegraph fi'uginecr), i the following from the Chief Office: —Messrs Talbot (Superintendent), Treweek • (Assisfca.nt-Supe.ri tendon t), Neville counter clerk), and Towusend (senior dispatch clerk). Floral tributes included luuidsome- wreaths from the Chief Post Office, "G.P.O. friends," and the Ohiof Telegraph Officer. The interment took place at Karori, tho service at the graveside being conducted by tlio Eev. D. J. Shaw, of the Presbyterian Church, Khaaidallah. In. addition to all local offices and brandies. thV Palmerston North, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, and other post office? were represented al 1 the funeral. .
