SOLDIERS' MEMORIALS
AT KARORI CEMETERY. A deputation from toe Soldiers' Mo-' mor-ial Cemetery Committee (W.N.R.) waited on the public health committee of the City Council at the. Town Hall when matters concerning the various memorial works and the tree and ehrub planting wcrs discussed. Two fine stone seats, which will cost about £6O each, have been ordered, and will be placed in front of the rose borders. A memorial sun dial and marble steps are also in course of construction, and will add much to the appearance and beauty of the place. The lych-gate will also be commenced shortly. It is of a beautiful design. With regard to the reinterment of soldiers who died prior to - the epidemic, and , whose' graves are in a neglected condition, it was stated that, owing to the prevalence of illness in Wellington last summer, and the> wet season in autumn, these had not heen attended to. The ,<:ommititice was assured by .the public health committee that the work
would be carried out as soon as possible, and in the meantime relatives were asked to realise that> the delay had not meant neglect but precaution.
