NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. Tha New Zealand amateur billiard championship contest commenced yesterday afternoon at Alcock and Co.’s showrooms. Baker’s Buildings. The championship is being held under the auspices of the Wellington Federal Club. - All games are 6-30 up, except the final, which is 1500 up. In the afternoon Roberts reached the requisite score with hia .adversary Tucker, at 'O. The winner’s best breaks were 59, 64, and 52. Tho loser’s best breaks were 40, 30, and 23.. In the evening Williams reached tho requisite 650 with Wakem at 554. The winner’s best breaks were 67, 52, and 23. The loser’s best breaks were 23, 22, 21 and 20. To-day :at 10 a.m. Fredatoritch _ will meet Scriviner, at 3 p.m. Mathias meets Warren. and at 8 o’clock this evening meets cHedeberg. Last evening Siedeberg made a break of 306 at tho Federal Club rooms, followed by an unfinished break of 136.
