U.S. PRESIDENCY
THIRD PARTY IN THE FIELD. LA FOLLETTE TO BE A OANDIDATE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CHICAGO, July 7. The so-called third party, -which experts to place a Presidential candidate in the field in opposition to the •Republicans and the Democrats, will hold ite' convention in Chicago soon. The party is composed of the former Labour party, the Agricultural NonPartisan League, war veterans, and those generally dissatisfied with the two major parties. It 'is understood that Senator La Follette, of Winconsin, will be the party's choice for the Presidential contest. (Received July 12. 12.15 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 9. The organisers, at Chicago, of the third party, are making strenuous efforts to have the National Labour party join in the movement. Thus far the Labour party is not unfriendly, but is holding aloof until the third party can give it definite assurances concerning its platform and candidates. THE DEMOCRATS. DAYTON (Ohio), July 7. Governor Cox, the Democratic candidate, will not mako any statement concerning hi& campaign plans or issues until he has had an opportunity to confer with Mr Franklyn Roosevelt and the Democratio party leaders. WASHINGTON, July 8. Presidont Wilson's secretary, Mr Tumulty, states that President Wilspn is plated at the nominations of Governor Cos and Mr Roosevelt.
