AN OLD MAN’S DEATH KILLED BY A AIOTOR-CAR. A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that an old man, William "Reed, aged eighty-one, a resident of Alount Eden, was knocked down by motor-far when crossing the Alount Eden road last night. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of shock. LOST OVERBOARD. SHIP’S STEWARD DISAPPEARS. A fatality occurred last evening on tho steamer Rakanoa, which is discharging coal at Chelsea, Auckland, tho steward, Stanley Alills, aged seventeen years, disappearing overboard. Alills had been seen going to the side of tlie ship to empty a bucket of refuse, and shortly afterwards the crew’ heard a loud splash. They rushed to the side, but no trace of Alills could be seen. A boat was lowered, but the search was without result.—Press Association.
