WAR CRIMINALS
SUBMARINE COMMANDERS RELEASED. PRESSURE FOR TRIAL ON GERMAN GOVERNMENT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received July 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 3. In the House of Commons, replying to Mr Bottomley, Mr Bonar Law stated that the German submarine commanders whose names were published by the Admiralty in September, 1918, as war prisoners, have been released, except one, who is accused of grave violations of the rules of warfare, and who is to be detained in England until the Government is satisfied that he will be tried. ' Mr Bonar Law told' Lord Curzpn that the Government intended to raise at the Spa Conference the question of pressing the German Government to immediately proceed with the trial of war criminals. ~,,,-,■ He also announced that Germany ha 3 up to the present surrendered 19 seaplanes, while 2846 aeroplanes have been destroyed under Allied supervision. _^_^^__^_
