HARRIERS
BROOKLYN CLUB. Over 20 runners of tihe above club attended at Miramar on. Saturday for the purpose of holding a trial over the 6-milo cross-country course to select the teams to represent the club in the provincial cross-country championships on July 31st. A sealed handicap was held in conjunction with Saturday's race. Tho day was an ideal one for cross-country running, and some fine performances ware recorded, notably R. Bell, who finished quite fresh in ftmin 82sec, with W. Burk 20seo further back, N. Smellie occupying thnd place. The sealed handicap resulted: N. Smellie, lmin SOsec, 1: N* Thompson, Bmin, 2; W. Burk, 35sec, 3. The following will represent tho club in the provincial cross-country championship for the Whyte and Mackay Shield :—'. A team: R. Bell, W. Burk, D Todd, N. Smellie, C. Dontice, H. Robinson. B Team: F. Harlen, N. Mtyoch, A.i MWcheS, F. Billing, Or. Quig, T. Collins. OLYMPIC CLUB. The above olub assembled at I/yall Bay last Saturday for their usual weeklvt run, when runners to the number of 27 followed a trail selected by F. Hodson and Carwell-Cooke. The trail led along the beaoh in a northeast direction for 300 yards, thence a tuxn was made due north, over the town hills to the city boundary, i and along the road past the Miramar wharf for about half a mile, when a turn was made the ridge to, the east thronsh Miramar on to tho ridge above Soatouu and back to the starting place via thotgolf links and tihe beach. The distance was about eight miles. Th* usual run in was held. Davi3, Lovell and Nelson finiabing in that order.
