INTERESTING CEREMONY
AT ST. MARK’S CHURCH SCHOOL. VISIT OP GOVERNOR-GENERAL. An interesting little ceremony took place in Mark’s Church School yesterday, when Ills Excellency the Gover-nor-General ami Lady Liverpool were present to bid farewell to tho pupils of Uro school. Tho Rev. Mr Page, presided and there wore also present Miss Holm (the principal), the teaching staff, and also tho members "of the school committee. Mr Page referred to the kindly interest Their Excellencies had always taken in lire parish and tiro school, and wished .them, on behalf of the' pupils, a safe return to England and a happv future. Hilda Clift, the first pupil admitted to the. school, .then handed to each of Their Excellencies a small token of remembrance. Tiro Governor-General, in replying, referred to tho, young hero of Venice, whoso crest, a lion, was the same as the school badge, and urged tho children to follow his example an that he did his duty well and thoroughly. He asked the school to accept autographed portraits of himself and Lady Live.r)vjol, and concluded by saying tluvt he was authorised to promise the children a half-holiday.
