AUCKLAND ALOOF

TEACHERS SECEDE FROM INSTITUTE.A LIVELY DISCUSSION. . At an unusually well-attended meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute belt yesterday morning (says a Press Association telegram), there- was a “live” discussion on the question of forming an association separate .from tho institute, so that Auckland’s particular and peculiar needs should not bo sacrificed to the. wishes of the rest of the Dominion. Tho matter was raised by Mr A. J. C. Hall’s notice of motion: “That in the opinion of this meeting it is advisable for Auckland teachers to form an association, under clause 138 of the Education Act, 1914.”

On a vote the meeting signified its approval of the motion by; a largo majority, only nineteen members- being opposed to it. After the meeting a committee -was appointed to make arrangements for the formation of the proposed association.
