PUBLIC SERVICE

THE CONFERENCE CONCLUDED. Delegates to the Public Service conference met tho Commissioner yesterday and submitted to him the various remits passed during its deliberations. A “Times” reporter was informed subsequently that the new Commissioner welcomed the mehibers, and tho interview was most cordial on. both sides. Both the Commissioner (Mr Morris) and the Assistant-Commis-sioner (Mr Frazer) created a most favourable impression and, in fact, the reception was one which would inspire the utmost confidence of the service in the impartiality of tho Commissioners in any matters 'which may be submitted for their consideration. Tho following officers were elected on the executive committee for tho ensuing year:—President, Mr W. M. Wright; vice-presidents, Messrs J. H. .Terrain, R. Sinel, C. M. Hill, H. R. Spence, W. M, White,. L. B. Jordan, D. Rankin; treasurer, Mr B. L. Dallard; Auckland, Mr J. H. Terrain; South Auckland and Waikato, Mr P. A. Macomish; Gisborne, Mr I. W. M. Ashley; Hawke’s Bay, Mr J. R. McClune;. Taranaki, Wanganui, and Palmerston North, Mr F. F. Laurenson; Wellington, Messrs W. H. Phillips and W. E. Gladstone; Marlborough, Mr A. Burgess; Nelson, Mr B. A. Ginger; West Coast, Mr A. C. Philpott; Canterbury and South Canterbury, Mr J. A. Campbell; Otago, Mr J. F.'Quinn; Southland, Mr J. J. Furlong. _ ■ Lady representatives, Misses B. Trevithick and L. E. Larchin. Police, Detective-Sergeant A. E. Andrews, Constables W. Thom and E. O- Jorrold. Messrs Wright, Jerram and Millar were elected as representatives on the Council of State Services. A vote of thanks to tho president for his able control of the council terminated a most successful gathering. . .
