The Australian Federal Parliament has resumed its sittings, and the House is debating the Tariff Bill. The Senate has elected Senator Givens as President. i' Owing to the occurrence of smallpox in the Dominion, New Zealand has been gazetted an infected area. The now Commonwealth steamer Emita has been launched. The Victorian State revenue for the year is £ls,ooo,ooo—an increase over last year of £2,387,000. SYDNEY July 2. In view of the shortage of sugar, the New South Walco Alliance is asking the Federal Prime Minister to restrict the activities of the biewcrics.
