'The work of subduing the lire was resumed this morning, and it is believed that it will bo sate enough to allow the men to get back to work on Monday. MOTOR. FATALITY. DASH OVErTaIpREOIPICE. A Mangaweka settler, Carl Victor Anderson, was instantaneously killed m a motor accident at 4 o'clock on Thursday- afternoon, says a Press Association mesage from Taihape. He was driving alouo when the steeringgear became defective, and .the car shot over a high precipice. When picked up Anderson's ne'ek was found to he broken. FALL FROM A HORSE. Whilst riding a horse at Miramar, yesterday afternoon, a married man named Philip McKay , was thrown to the ground in consequence of his horse stumbling. He was admitted to the hospital at 4.15 p.m., where it was found that an ankle had been dislocated. • FALL OF PAPA ROCK. YOUNG MAN BURIED AND KILLED. The Wanganui ‘police have received advice of a fatal accident at Moouata, 35 miles inland from Wayerley, the victimbeing William O’Neil, a single man aged 25 years. Deceased was buried by a fall of papa rock. FOUND DEAD. An elderly man, Edward James Wlsbey, aged 72 years, was found dead on the floor of his bedroom at hie residence, No. 19, Martin street, at 6.30 o’clock yesterday morning. An inquest is to be held at 9.30 o’clock ‘this ’ morning.
