COMPENSATION CLAIM
RESULT OF LIFT ACCIDENT. Before Mr W. G. Eiddell, S.M., yesterday, Alfred Dryden, carter, claimed for compensation from Messrs A. C, and A. A. Kennedy. It was stated for plaintiff that in December last ho was engaged by College and Co., tenants of Kennedy's buildings, in Lower Cuba street. In order to remove certain articles, the lift was used. It broke away, dropping from the second floor to the basement. As a result of this mishap he was rendered unconscious, was injured, received shock, and was unable to attend his usual occupation. lie, therefore, claimed £IBO, made up of claims for loss of wages, medical and dental expenses, and partial incapacity, and £SO as general damages. The question as to the safety of a lift, and whether it could, have been made safe, was gone' into by plaintiff’s connTho case was adjourned for a dato to be fixed later.
