RIFLE SHOOTING
HAUTERE TEAM BEATS FOSTON. On Saturday last members of thfe Foxton Rifle Club journeyed to Hautera to try to wrest the Fresh Fbod Cup from the Hautere men (writes our Otaki correspondent. A very enjoyable afternoon’s sport was held. This is the first time that the Foxton Club has journeyed to Hautere, but they made themselves quite at home, and both aides thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Foxton men complimented the Hautereites on the way the marking was carried out, which expedited the match the three ranges takin- under three hours to complete, which constitutes a record for 16 men in these competitions. The ladies turned out in force and viewed the shooting, and also served out refreshments to all. Mr D. B. Mackersey reached the coveted 100, which was a splendid performance for a trickv day, S. Head being top scorer for the Foxton team with 91. The Hautere team won the match by 34 points. Appended are the scores Hautere Team.
