, (By "Carbine.”! The two Thompson Handicap candidates, Arrow-smith and Fiery Cross, reached Trentham yesterday. Mr T. H. Lowry did well out of the four yearlings he sent to. the . Sydney sales, as the. quartette realised just under SCOO guineas.
Harold’ and Georgs Young, the leading South Island horsemen, arrived from Eiccarton yesterday.
Sasanof, Golden Bubble. Delight, and the other horses under G. Jones's care have arrived from Eiccarton, and have been sent on home. They will not race at Wellington.
Flight Commander, who has been pur. chased by a Welliogton sportsman, has arrived in Wellington, and has gone into H. / Telford’s stable. Arrowsmith, who has been accepted for in both the Thompson Handicap and the Eailway Handicap, will start in the Thompson, and it ia understood that ho will be heavily supported. For the sprint event Bmdle is rushing into favour.
A trial of Hie new electric totalisator at Trentham was held last evening, and the staff had the working of the machine explained to it.
■ H. Cutts, with Onslaught, Nightraider and Checkmate, arrived from the south yesterday.
J. Campbell, who is to ride Fiery Cross in the Thompson Handicap, was a passenger by the ■ Mararoa yesterday.
Pacing club secretaries from all parts of New Zealand are arriving in Weilington to watch the working of the new totalisator to-morrow, and Saturday. They will report to their clubs on the subject.
The secretary of the New ZealandJockeys’ Association has written to' the various . racing clubs asking that the nominations of certain horses be refuged, otherwise the executive will hold clubs responsible for any injuries caused to members of the association. A letter has also been sent to the starters asking them to use their power and place fractious horses behind the field.
Among the horses which came up by yesterday morning’s ferry boat were Mustard Pot, Amythas, Castilian, Bon Spec, and La Paix.
The deputation from the Jockeys’ Association which it wo.s thought would wait on the Prime Minister to-day. will not meet Mr Massey until after ho has disposed of the Eailway Committee, which is now occupying his attention.
