A STRANGE DISAPPEARANCE
EMPLOYEE'S PECULIAR ACT. The clerk reported to the Hutt Comity Council at its meeting yesterday that a man named J. Cooper, a returned roldicr in the employ of tJie council, had disappeared in December last, leaving £9 of wages owing to him, and had not since been heard of. The chairman: We can do nothing but hold tho money till we hear from him.
