CHEAPER BACON
AND DEARER EGGS. There is reason to believe that bacon will presently bo cheaper. The prices paid by many curois for pork are now reported to he fully Id per pound lower than formerly, and this is expected to be reflected in thq price of bacon. A leading curcr reports that pigs are to bo much more plentiful in the North Island, and consequently tho price of pork for turning into bacon Ts now and fresh pork should soon bo correspondingly cheaper. With regard to eggs, tho case is vice versa. These have a tendency to rise as high in price ns od per egg. This is entirely due to tho advance in price of fowls' wheat, and as long as fowl wheat stays high, eggs will continue to be only for householders where economy in tho table is no object.
