MAINTENANCE CASES
SEVEN AL OFFENDERS DEALT WITH. Several maintenance cases were dealt with bv Mr E. Page, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday. Joseph Coutts, who fallen into arrears amounting to £l3 os 6d in respect of an order, was sentenced to one monMi's imprisonment, the war r . rant to be suspended so long as he paid 20s per week, which amount would also provide "for tho paying oft of the arrears. Henry S. Nicholson was adjudged the father of an illegitimate child, and lie was ordered to contribute 10s per week towards its maintenance, and also £ll lis expenses and solicitor's fees. A similar order was made against Albert Carpenter, the expenses in his case being set, down at £l3 13s. An application for'a separation order made by Jano Elizabeth Ericsson against her husband, Charfe* Ericsson, on tho grounds of failure to maintain, persistent cruelty, and habitual drunkenness, was approved, the respondent being ordered to pay £1 per week towards the support of his wife.
