OAEKIVAIJ AT TEPID BATHS. There, was, a large attendance, at the. Tepid Baths on Saturday ._ night when the final swimming carnival of the season was, held. The. events jvero : well contested and some oloeo finishes resulted. The great disappointment of the evening was the nonappearance of the Auckland competitors. The _IOO yards New Zealand .junior championship, ended in &. sensational victory for the Wellington hoy, C. Claridge., who swam well throughout arid beat his opponent by a- yard after a. hard struggle. The tug-of-war, which, is a new aquatic sport to the Wellington public, proved a great, success, and, ended in. a win for. the Lyall Bay Club. The two games of water polo were yery successful. Judging by the enthusiasm with which, the exhibition was received, it should prove a, popular paistime in Wellington in, the ' near future. Following are details of the,results :■ — ■ ■
