TRAMWAYMEN'S CLAIMS
A CONFERENCE TO-NIGHT. A conference between the City Cou» oil's tramways committee and representatives of the Wellington Tramway* Employees' Union will be held this evening at 7.50 p.m. The conference will discuss the claims recently drawn up by the union in regard to wages and general working conditions of the men in tho tramway service. The new demands are considerably more than those [ last drawn up. The union asks a rate of 2s 9d per hour for a first-dass motorman as compared with 2s 3d' per hour previously v proposed. The lower rate; ore practically in ..proportion.«.
