WANGANUI NOTES.

_ , APRIL 6. Hi- and Mrs Knox Gilmer, of Wellington, spent the J3astcr in Wanganui,' Mr and Mrs Mmpsou are among the visitors to Wanganui. Air Empson was for many years lieadmastor of the Collegia'to school. Mr and Mis Bull, of Eangitikei, were in town for Master. Mrs McKelvie, of Eangitikei, i s among the visitors for tho Collegiate School Master sports. Mr and Mrs Kav were among the visitors to town on Easter Monday. The Blaster holidays passed off quietly.. The Grand Orange Lodge held their annual conference here. They held a service in Has Majesty’s Theatre on Sunday afternoon and on Monday the visitors were entertained at an up-river picnic. The local tramway employees held their annual picnic on Good Friday. Tho day was gloriously fine. The grounds were .kindly lent by Mr Cave. As has been the custom for many years the Collegiate School held their annual sports on the College grounds on Ulster Monday. Visitors and old hoyo came from far and near, and tho old bo o ’s race on tho programme was the largest hold seen here. The tug-of-war School v. Old Boys, was won by the latter. Tinsenior out went to G. O. Bayley and the junior to E. V/. Tarry. A delicious afternoon tea was served in. the school, dinnu, room. Among those present wore the headmaster ‘Dr Marshall! inid .Mrs Virshall, the latter wearing a lime gabardine relieved with cream; Airs E. ,W. Empsou hat and scarf of palo lavender. Mrs If. tiood also «oio uaiy in Vicuna cloth and light hat. Mrs XL E. Christie was in nattier , blue charrueuso with small hut wreathed in earns shade of ostrich feather. Mrs Maurice Earle’s royal, blue sill: had the new peg-top skirt, she wore o bronze brown rioo straw hat, relieved with fruit, and white fox shoulder fur. Mrs D’Arcy had on a moss green velour gown with close black hat. Airs Ivay. ,of Eangitikei, was . in navy Vienna," and largo black hat. Mrs Alex. Wilson wore a, dainty gown of floral silk with shoul-
der furs. Mrs Izard was in navy crepe silk outlined and embroidered in blanket stitch, her fawn .ha'c had high wings to match. Mrs Montgomerie wore all black satin, and black and white bonnet. Mrs J. Moore was in pale heliotrope crepe de chine and largo black picture hat with butterfly bow oi heliotrope. Mrs Broad wore a' black and white check tailored gown and dark hat. Miss Bates, -New Plymouth, light grey costume and ligflt hat. 'Mrs Da*- had on a black and white check, with black hat. Mrs A. O. Hardy looked very smart in a pretty pale violet corded gown and stylish close fitting hat with high mount. Mrs Eric Hardy, of Waverley, wore a navy blue tailored gown and small tarn straw hat. Mrs H R. S. Taylor was in cream serge v and black hat. Miss Harden wore cream with cream and t>ale blue knitted jersey. Mrq Allevne. a molo tailored gown and light hat. Miss Brookfield, blue tweed costume and light Kat. Mrs 3as. Higgle, of Okdia. wore a mole charmeuse witti vost of georgette and hat to match. Mrs Comyns was in a fawn tailored gown and small black silk bat. Miss Horotby Cbmvns had on a black and white tailored gown in tbo new c-ate leg check with white silk facings and large white straw 11 Mrs Jas. Moore has just returned from of New Plymouth, is ihe guest of Mr and Mrs Dav B.ulsou strve . Mr and Mrs Dave Lawton, of Nelson, are hero for a holiday.
