If you do so —I speak with some authority -as-having had control of tho finances of this country for some time —then in this glorious I do not fear tho-future. “The brightest gem in the British Crown, I believe it has a great future tefore it. I believe the time will come when we will become a self-contained Empire. I see that at Home a Commission is sitting endeavouring to _ restrict investment within the Empire: and that is one-of-the-best-things that can possibly occur. Immigrat'on also will probably bo confined to the Empire; and if these things_ are done, we shall see our Empire, whiob has always stood for freedom and justice, stronger than ever." (Applause.)
