EDUCATION BOARD

THE BUSINESS TRANSACTED/ Tho Wellington Education Board mot yesterday. Mr T. Forsyth presided, and there were present, also: — Messrs O. '. Harkness, R.ish'wurth, JP. Shand, J. J. Clarke, 1?. McCallum, A. W. Hogg, G. T. London, and E. H. Pennoy.

It was reported that tlie grant for tho hostel was not available until the building question had been decided. The board was notified that n subsidy of .£3OO would be paid towards the' cost of Technical* School buildings at Lower Hutt. The Education Department notified that tho disestablishment of the Hutt and P clone District. . High Schools would take place from the end of the year, and wrote that the Education Board would have .three, .menibers, the Hutt Borough one, and that tw c would bo appointed by the GovernorGeneral. The following resolution respecting Mastcrton boundaries was passed: "That the Mastcrton West School District be established as follows: Bounded on the north by the "Waipoua IliVer; on the east by Chappol street; on tho south by a ..line drajyn,. parallel to Renall street, ICoft south.. of that street, thence from Chappcl street to the Borough Boundary on the west; on the west by the Borough Boundary, thence in a line nothward to meet the river/' It was resolved that.the .board's representatives on the Hutt High J3ch.ooJ. should be Messrs London, Rishwortb, and tho Mayor of Petone. The following resignations were received: —Miss M. HardyT assistant, Island Bay; Miss F. E. Freeman, sole teacher, Opouri;' Miss M. J. Watson, assistant, Shannon; Miss A. A. B. Waters, assistant, Porirua; Mr A. MoLachlan, assistant instructor W woodwork; Miss A. Garry, assistant, Wadestown.
