The House Navy Committee approved a bill appropriating 420,290,000 dollars in 1921 for tho navy, and providing for a construction programme which will give tho United Statee ships'of the first line and 19 of tho aecond priates 15,876,000 dollars for aviation. ESTIMATES REDUCED. Eeuter's Telegram. (Received -March 17, 7-15 p-m.) WASHINGTON*, -March 10. Congressman Smith urged the Navy Committee of tho House to ignore the demand of Mr J. Daniels .(Sectary t<» tho Navy) for a larger navy because tho acceptance of tho Treaty was delayed. The committee reduced Mr Daniels's estimates by sixty nidlions sterling, eliminating much of tho proposed expenditure on the-' Pacitio Coast and declined to authorise thu construction of-now fitting ships. The committee also declined to.."build giant seaplanes, two of-which, it was recently reported, might attempt a transPacific flight.
