"CHRIST AND WOMANHOOD”
UEV. BUREIDGE AT ST. JOHN'S. A special service was held last night at St. John's Presbyterian Church in connection with the annual Convention of the W.C.T.U. at present being held in the city. A largo number of delegates were in attendance. The Kev. li. W. Burridge, M.A., conducted the> service and preached on “Christ and Woman- : hood," from the text, Matthew xxvii. 19, the incident of Mate's wife, who alone protested against the condemnation of Christ. The preacher claimed that her act was an illustration of the fact that women had furnished all down the centuries some of the finest examples of loyalty to Christ and Christianity, and had many times protested against injustice and wrong. With clear vision, women perceived then and ever Since that Christ’s teaching stood for the highest hopes of womanhood, and the recognition of that fact in, these days should increasingly mean the spirit of loyalty and service on the part of women for the cause of Christianity and tils welfare of humanity.
