COAL SUPPLIES
THE POSITION IMPROVING
OUTPUT RETURNING TO NORMAL
Hie acceptable statement supplied by Councillor J. O. Shetland at the meeting of the City Council on Thursday evening in regard to coal supplies is confirmed by information gathered bv a "New Zealand Times’’ reporter yesterday. n Reports from the- M Coast mines indicate that the output isi rapidly returniug to normal. According to anvices received by the City Council fiom the Coal Trade'Committee a supply of coal will be available next week that will restore the tramways to their normal running, the Westport Coal Company having sot aside a special consignment, of coal for that purpose. It is anticipated that after the arrival of this shipment regular supplies will be . forthcoming. The Wellington Gas Company ut present lias supplies yhich will probably be exhausted by Monday next, and arrangements are being made to meet the future requirements of the company. It is announced that the WestportStockton Company, realising the local difficulty, is prepared to concentrate on the local supply next week, and the only difficulty in' this connection will concern, the amount of shipping tonnage that will be made available.
