LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING IMPORTANT. BUSINESS TRANSACTED. Tho monthly meeting of the Wellington Land Board, held this week, the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr G. H. McClure) presiding, was concluded yesterday with a lengthy sitting in committee. TRANSFERS.

Transfers have been granted as follows :—Section 6, Block X, Mataroa Township, 1 rood, Mrs Isabel Barnkat to Edwin Godfrey Ozanno, Sections I and 5, Block X, Mataroa S.D., 2 roods, and sections 12, 10, li, 18, Block IV, Mataroa Township, 1 acre 1 rood 30 perches, total 1 acre 3 roods 30 perches, Simon Barakat to Edwin Godfrey Ozanne. Section 26, Block XVI, Maungakaretu S.D., 200 acres, Mrs Sarah Ann Connolly to Douglas Elmsly Boon. Section 30, Mangawoka V.5.,10 acres 2 roods .09 perches, and section 28, 6 acres, total 16 acres 2 roods .09 perches, John Edward Amor to William Kneebone. Section 51, Mangawoka V.S., 4 acres 2 roods 1/ perches, William Henry Harold Carter to William Kneebone. The board approved the following applications for land under tho Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act: Section 3a, Matamau Settlement, 63 acres 1 rood 28 perches, 8.L., C. JStone; section Is, Sandilands Settlement, 116 acres 1 rood. 21 perches, R.L., F. E. Sandilands; section Is, Ruatangata Settlement, 72 acres 2 roods 3 perches, 8.L., J. W. Duggan; section ss, Pukenamu Settlement .Extension, 90 acres, R.L., R. J- E-ing > part 47, block X, Kaitieke S.D., 63 acres, R.L., J. McLennan, capital value £220; section 2s, Etuatangata Settlement, 30 acres, R.L., M. D. Baker; section 3s, Ruatangata Settlement, 144 acres 2 roods. 26 perches, JRi.L. P. O. T. Hodge; section o. block” 111, Whirinaki S.D., 585 acres, R. J. L. Aislabie. The following applications under Public Reserves and Domains Act werealso approved:— Block VI, Hunua S. 9 acres 2 roods (approx.), temporary lease, part of rifle range; section 68, block VIII, Makuri S.D., o acres, temporary lease, C S. Braddiok. FEE SIMPLE GRANTED. Applications for tho fee simple were granted as under: —Section 10, block 9, Manganui S.D., 535 acres, Kenneth Cyril Webster; section 25, block 10, Mt. Cerberus S.D., 130 acres, and secition 25a, 129 acres, total 259 meres, George Thomas Waldmann. Section 2, block 10, Makotuku S.D., 210 acres, James Scott. SUNDRY CASES. An application was lodged by G. L. F. Honors, of Horopito, sawmiller,. for a mill site of 20 acres on Lot 4 (Sale Poster 682), and a grazing license over Lot 4 (less the mill site). The board decided that a lease of a mill site of 20 acres in Lot 4 be granted, under section 307 of the Lands Act, 1908, for a term of five years at a rental of 20s per acre per annum; also that a lease of the remainder of Lot 4 be granted under section 130 of the Land Act, 1008, for a term of five years from August Bth, 1919, at a rental of 8s per acre per annum. The Commissioner reporting that A. G. Boddington had_ not completed his application for section 1, block 1, Whinnaki S.D., it was resolved to declare the application lapsed. The splitting permits held 1 by G. Miley and R. W. Pope over areas in block 16, Manganui S.D., near Horopito, were cancelled.

The application of F. B. W. Luers for permission to transfer his sawmilling license at Hihitahi to tho Hihitahi Sawmilling Company was approved., subject to. satisfactory investigation. The disposal of tho subdivision of the old State sawmill site at Kakahi, in block 5, Hunua S.D., was considered, and it was resolved that the sections should bo offered for sale at Kakahi by auction. Tho (board decided to offer the undermentioned lessees of education reserves a renewal of their leases for a further terms of 31 years, from expiry of the leases, at the annual rentals, set out below:—Stewart Watkins, section 449, block I, Wairoa, £4O 4s; C. T. Hayward, section 12, block IV, Umutoi, £6l 15s: C. H. E. Sweet, section 11, block XY, Hautapu, £100; F. I). Tyer, section 11, block IV. Pohangina Township, £l3; Angus McKinnon, sections 113 and 157, Ranghvahia Township, £9 16s; Alex Morgan, section 124, Rangfwahia Township, £2 16s; Robert Hancock, section 167, Rangiwahia Township, £4 4s; Ernest Langton, sections 44, 46, and 67, Livingston Township, £3 7s. The application of James Harris for U lease of five acres of Crown land between section 26, block IV. Mangahco, and the river, was approved; as also was that of T. O. A. SeToclin for a lease of section 92, block VII, Mungahao S.D., two acres. Mc: srs L and E. Thompson and JL. Franklin applied for the right to cut silver pins on the Crown land in block VHI, Manganui S.D., situated between tho road and railway south of Brua Railway Station; J. L. Franklin also applied for grazing rights over the same area. The applications were refused. The Commissioner reported that Mr W. iP. Casey had not completed his application for section 9, block HI, Whirinaki S.D. The application was declared lapsed. The board was requested to offer Stewart Watkins a renewal of his Education Reserve lease over part section 449, block I, Wairoa S.D. —82 acres 0 roods 38 porches—for a further term of 21 years from 1-4-20. The application was approved. A. H. Westwood, a returned soldier, applied for a lease of part section 44, Hawaenga Village, 9 acres, and offered £3O for tho buildings on the section. The application was adjourned. SOLDIERS’ LAND PURCHASE. . In addition to tho above, tho board considered 110 applications by discharged soldiers for the purchase of farm lands and 214 applications by soldiers for tho purchase of residential properties
