A very pretty wedding was celebrated in the Edgewaro road Methodist Church, Christchurch, on Tuesday, February 17th, the contracting parties being Mr Leonard Richard Duliu, son of Mrs and the late Mr Dulieu, Springfield road, St. Albans, to Aliss Clara Duloie' Newman, youngest daughter of Air and Airs E. A wedding in which a great deal of interest was taken was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Christchurch, the bride being Aliss Ileone Green, only daughter of Airs J. F. Green, of Colombo street, and the bridegroom Air Cyril Alexander Stringer, eldest son of Air Justice Stringer and Mrs Stringer. The bride, who ffas given away by her uncle, Mr AI. Louisson, of Auckland, wore a bridal robe of soft satin and tulle, the latter being delicately ’ embroidered in silver, -while the court train was also of tulle, with, silver ruohing. A tulle veil fell from a circlet of orange blossoms, and a bouquet of ’ choice white flowers was carried. In attendance on the bride were two tiny children, Patsy Comerford and George Louisson. Tho former wore a dainty frock of ruffled laco oyer palest pink satin, and a wreath of pink roses in her hair, while the latter was in a picturesque suit of white satin. Mr Prank Wilding acted as best man. After the ceremony Airs J. F. Green held a largely-attended reception at her residence, whore the rooms wore beautifully decorated with white tulle and pink and white flowers. Later Air and Mrs Stringer left on their honeymoon, tho brid© wearing a smartly-ont frock of navy, silk jersey, white fox furs and black hat.

After days of unbearable heat rain set in Wednesday evening and continue steady until after noon on Thursday. Needless to say the grounds at tho course were very wet, but looked beautifu.ly green for this time of year. As is always tho case at race‘time tho town wasfull of visitors, and accommcdatipii was taxed early in the week. The races were got off in good time, and our popular secretary, Mr N. Hall, and his courteous assistants, did all possible to make the 1920 Cup day a .success, but late willed it should he wet. Tho Garrison Band was in attendance, and under the new conductor gave a splendid programme of music. There wore no accidents, which is always good news. Alost of the ladies were in raincoats, not troubling to don Uielr race dresses. Airs Eric Riddiford, of Wellington, looked decidedly smart in her accordeon-pleated frock of dark blue, tho sao bodice being latticed in gold thread. Her tiny hat of silk had high wings, and she wore smoked grey fox shoulder cape, and carried a jaclo grees silk sunshade. Airs Aledhurst wore a pretty tailored effect in stone blue with facings of mole, and light rice straw hat. Airs J. Aloere looked chic, in her smart black and white costume, her black hat being .relieved with white. Her mother, Airs Allan Cameron, was also in black, with black and white hat. Mrs Kennedy, of Wellington, was in a small clupk tweed with black facings asd close-fitting toque with- cluster of black ospreys at side. Airs H. Good wore a navy vicuna pleated gown, light hat banded with emerald.. Airs Russell Grace was in a dark blue embroidered silk poplin with touch of pale blue at the neck, the tunic finished with deep black silk fringe; her nco straw hat was lined in palo blue and had pale grev wings. A striking gown was worn by Airs C. G. Russell, of Nukumaru. The skirt was a blacck and white tweed, with Alagyar knitted jersey of terracotta silk worn very loose and short; her putty shade of cap had knitted scarf of the silk. Airs Howard Christie woro navy blue cloth and large black hat. Airs Brodio (Christchurch) wore a palo grey tailored gown with soft cloth hat. Airs GibMn, navy tailored costume, with white lace vest, and large black straw hat. Airs W. Glasgow wore a, black and white check tweed and large black hat. Airs Brown, Wellington, “black’ tailored gown with fine pin stripe in white, black hat trimmed with jet. Airs W, Hall, battier blue silk and light straw hat wreathed with pink roses. Mrs Alaunt-e Earle was in stone grey tweed with nigar velvet collar and cuffs, and navy velvet toque. Aliss Darby woro a navy tailored gown and hat in same shade banded in jade groon. After the running of the Cup race on Thursday the presentation of tho massive cup was made in front of tho stand to tho owner of the winner. Air Elwnn Campbell mado tho presentation, and Kilrush was there too. Tho cup was brought from Homo by Air Russell Grace, and is a most beautiful work of the jeweller’s art.
