BILLIARD MATCH
McCONACHY v. CROSSON. Wellington billiardists had an opportunity of seeing Clark McConochy, the Dominion's prospective international representative in action at the new Albert •billiard room, adjoining- .tfche Albert Hotel, last evening when he commenced his game with Crossan, the local champion. There was a very large attendance.and the match was watched with intense interest, McConachy conceded 4000 points to Crossan in the match of 9000 up. The brilliant cuesist did not start well, his initial break being only 52. Crossan replied with 51, followed by one of 35 and one of 43. McConachy gradually improved his strokes, and breaks of 50, 194, 46 and 78 came in quick succession. When cues were put away at 10 p.m. tho score read: Crossan, 4u9; McConachy, 1501; so that the latter's score to the former's 779 augurs well for the champion's future efforts. The match will be continued at 3 P-rn. to-day. There should be a large attendance at both the afternoon and evening sessions.
