SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES. PEE. PRESS ASSOCIATION - . UCXEXIIN, February 10. This week's sale at' Burnsifio was held to-day on account of to-morrow being Cup "day and Lha opening of the Otago Agricultural Show. As is generally tne case on these occasions there were short supplies in all fat stock departments. Tins resulted jn prices beiujr firm at last week's rate. • Tat cattle.—There was a medium yarding of fair quality, a total of 15S head being penneu. Prime bullocks made from .£l9 t 0 .£25, medium -£l7 to £IS las, light and unfinished kinds from J&li 10s upwards, prime heifers made from Xlii iOs to £ls. medium =£l3 10s to £ll 15s. light and aged tram .£lO 10a upwards. Store cattle.—A largo yarding, and on tho average tho quality was poor. Cattle from eighteen months to two-year-old were in the majority. Cattle showing breed and in forward condition received fair attention, but young cattle in backward condition were not sought after and saies ior this class, wero difficult to effect even at reduced values on lato rates. Sheep.—Thore was a small yarding of medium quality, a total of 12SJi head being ogifered. Owing to the small supply tho competition was very keen and an average adanve of 2s Gd per head was realised as compared with last week's rates. Prime wethers made from 42s to 475. medium 30s to 41s, light and unfinished kinds 'from 30s upwards, extra prime heavy-weight ewes made from 44s to_ 51s, prime 3Ss to 425, medium 33s to 365, light unci aged from 25s upwards. Fat lambs.—A small yarding, only 324 head being offered for sale. The quality was fair and owing to the small biipply competition was keen and an advance of Is 6d per head was realised compared with la*t weeit's values, i'rioes ranged from 20s to 33s Gd per, head. Pigs.—A small yardipg; the'supply being insufficient for the requirements. A keen sale resulted at prices well up to late rat?s. Best baconers made from Is Id to 13 lid per lb and best porkers from Is lid to 1= 2jd per lb.
FRUIT AND PRODUCE WELLINGTON MARKETS.^ Des.-ert apples showing good quality aro meeting with, a satisfactory demand, but poorer classes are inclined to be neglected. POTATOES AND ONIONS. Tho market continues steady with supplies onlv about sufficient for requirements. An earlier demand than usual has set in lor South island potatoes for delivery next month, but it is not at all likely Unit thore will be many readi" Until April. Keports go to show that in some quarters there is likely to bo a largo jield and this should keep toluos down. Both cauliflowers and cabbages are ruling at very low rates as supplies aro heavy; in fact all classes of vegetables aro in good supply. Cauliflowers, choice. 3s Cd to 4s sack; prime, 2h 6d to 3s; cabbages, choice, 3s to 3s O'd sack; prime, 2s to 2s Gd; lettuce, i'ruih, Os to 3s 6d case; good, 2s to 2a Cd; marrow, 2s Cd to 3s; French beans, primn, :1s to 3s Cd part sack; good, 2s Cd to 2s yd: swedes. 2.s Cd to 3s Cd sack: green peas, prime, 83 to 10s sack; good, 7s to Cd; cucumbers, ISs to 20s largo case. JCGGS. - The market continues steady with supplies only moderate; values range from 2s Sd to ? s M. WKLLiNGTON CUSTOMS. The Customs revenue received at Wellington .yesterday totalled X 5703 2s Bd.
