HOROWHENUA NOTES
(From Our Own. Correspondent.) OTAKI, Monday. At a meeting of the committee of the Otaki Stat© Sonool on Friday night there were present:—Messrs J. It. Bills (chair, mau), A. W. Watts, A. Anderson, M. H. Ayro (secretary), K©v. Petrie, and W. B. Smith (headmaster). The Education Board reported that Miss McColl had been appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the transfer of Miss Bur'bush. A shark, over five feet long, was . last night oaiptured off the Otaki beach. Sharks are now numerous off the shore, due, no doubt, to the -warm weather. Duckily. they are but small. On the local bowling green on Saturday, Smith and Mitchell defeated Ayre and .Noble, 33—16. The losers opened with throe, while on the next iheadTthoir opponents scored 6ix. After tihis play settled down, and singles were generally the order of the play. On the 19th head Smith and Mitchell hod an advantage of one only, 17—16, but on the noxt two heads addled sis, and tfoALs by a substantial-, margin. There aro some thirty influenza cases, chieflv mild ones, in the district. Quite a number of children are affected by tho epidemic
