TWO CHILDREN DROWNED

FATALITY NFiAiR GISBORNE. PER ‘PRESS ASSOCIATION*.' GISBORNE, February 6. A drowning fatality, at Kaiteratahi, late this afternoon, resulted in the death of two children, Zona Alay Lasker, seven years, and William Lasker, eight years. The father, Mr C. Lasker, who is foreman of the freezing chamber at the Poverty Bay Aleut Works, slated that the children, accompanied by a Alaori boy named Waaka., were sent at 4.30 o’clock to the store for bread, and about 5 p.m. Waaka arrived at the store, su’d told a lad named - Oanieron that the two Lasker children went in to bathe and never \came up. He ; said he saw bubbles arising on the surface. The alarm was given, and a number of persons dived for' the "bodies; which were recovered at 5.30 o’clock. Artificial respiration was applied, but with no avail.
