Tho funeral, of tho late Dr. "W. liJ. Huthwaito, who died-in a private hospital in Wellington, took place at Otaki on Saturday. Dr. Huthwaito had only been indisposed foi- a few weeks. Regarding the death of Mr .Rphert Dow, of Dunediii, details show that he was found dead in his homo.*- The family attended churqh, a,nd. j>n. -their, return found the dce>ised_lyipg._dead. in the bath. He was acting as building inspector for the John McGlashaxi College Committee. The deceased waa well known as a builder in . former, years, and many of the commercial buildings in and around Dunedin are a monument to his labour. Ho leaves a widow and six of a family to mourn Lis decease.
At tho breaking-up, ceremony, in.connection with the Lower Hutt District High School yesterday Mr F. Mason, assistant-master, was welcomed back, after a period of sick leave, and Messrs Melody and McLeod from active service. Mr W. J. M. Reynolds, who has been outside organiser for the "Waikato Times," has been appointed publicity manager for the Farmers' Coop. Auctioneering Co., litd., Hamilton. Newman, who presided at the annual meotmg of the Gear Meat Company last night, when referring to the retirement of Mr W. H.
