In tho ©lections of State Governors, the Republicans gained several Governorships. _ Kentucky defeated a Prohibition amendment. Ohio decided to remain dry. A wot candidate won the New Jersey Governorship. An anti-strike Governor was returned in Massachusetts by a record majority. Colonel Theodore Roosevelt returned as Assemblyman for Now York States. His election synchronised with the birth of a son, who was named Quentin. Tammany was defeated heavily in Now York, and the Socialists had no gains. ’ At Cleveland, Ohio, John Kilbane, pugilist, was defeated for municipal honours.
