DOOM OF ANCIENT RELIC
WALLS OF BYZANTIUM TO BE DEMOLISHED. Published in "The Times-" (Received November 6, 6.5 p.m.) ATHENS, November 5. The municipality of Stamboul has decided to demolish the ancient walls of Byzantium and soli the ground as material. Byzantium is'an ancient Greek city on the site of the modern Constantinople. The name Byzantine Empire is applied to the Greek Empire, the eastern half of the .ancient Roman Empire, which was permanently sundered from the western half (Western Empire) in A.D. 365 and endured till 1453, and ehe capital of which was Constantinople.
