BATTLE EXPLOITS
MEMORIALS IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM. Australian and N.Z, Cable Association. (Received November 6, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. It was announced in the House cf Commons that the Battle Exploits morial Committee has received IX7 claims to erect memorials by individual units. All the Australian and New Zealand claims to date have been approved. Belgium lias agreed to reserve sites, including Passchendaole, Saint Julien, Gravenstafe], Zonnebeke, Hooge, Polygon Wood, Sanctuary Wood, Hill 63, Neuve, Eglise, Ypres, Messines, Zillebeke, Wytsohaete, Saint Eloi, Hill 60 and Kemxnel. The committee states that negotiations are proceeding for French sites, including Pozieres, Vimy, Monchy le Preus, Bourlon Wood and Villers Bretonneux. The arrangements for Gallipoli and Palestine are under discussion. Where sites are not given the committee will undertake to acquire land if units bear the cost of purchase. The question of the upkeep of the memorials has not yet been decided.
