STREET FATALITY
LADY KILLED BY MOT DR-OAR. A fatality occurred shortly after 2 p.m. yesterday at tile corner of Courtenay place and Kent terrace, when Mrs Mabel Black, wife of Detective Robert G. Black, was run over by a taxi-cab and died a few minutes litter. It is reported that Airs Black, who was out shopping, was crossing the road when a taxi-cab owned and driven by Bennot Barker Williams, of 72, Kent terrace, knocked her down, dragged her for a few yards and then passed over her. It was immediately evident that Mrs Black .was in a critical condition, her head being badly cut about. Dr J 5. AY. Smyth, of Kent terrace, was summoned, but when he arrived he found life extinct. By aij pearances deceased suffered a fracture of the skull, severe concussion and shock. The remains were taken up to the hospital mortuary. The late Mrs Black, who resided at 22, Stafford street, was 28 years of ago and leaves two daughters, aged respectively 6 years and 3 years. An inquest will be held.
