SEQUEL TO HOOKEY SHIELD - MATCH. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, September 29. In reference to the shield match Auckland v. Canterbury, the Canterbury Hookey Association to-night passed the following resolution: — “(1) That in view of the most unsatisfactory refereeing by Mr L. O. Kent, of Auckland, in the challenge shield match, this committee is unanimously of the opinion that ho is not capable of refereeing in any similar fixture in the future; (2) that in view of the unseemly demonstration by the general public at the match against Mr L. C. Kent this committee strongly recommends to the New Zealand Hookey Association that it would not bo in the best iteresta of hockey to appoint Mr Kent as a referee to any shield match n the future; (3) that in view of the' regrettable demonstration by spectators against Mr L. C. Kent the management committee of the Canterbury. Hockey Association is of the opinion that outside teferees should bo appointed ' for future challenge shield matches.” It was agreed to forward copies of the resolutions to the affiliated associations.
