NEW ZEALAND’S PLANS
PROPOSED FORMATION OF A SQUADRON.

The naval correspondent of tho “Daily Express” states that negotiations are in progress between the Admiralty and Now Zealand for the formation of a squadron for the New Zealand Station. it is understood that New Zealand is willing to make an annual payment for up-to-date vessels. The large issues of New Zealand's naval policy must await- Lord Jellicoo’s report.
“X have no knowledge of the mat ter,” stated tho Defence Minister, Sir James Allen, on his attention being called to the above cable by a “Times'* representative yesterday. “Nothing has been done in New Zealand in regard to it, and nothing will bo done till Admiral Jellicoo has been to New Zealand, and has reported.”
