FEDERAL AUTHORITIES REFUSE PUBLIC TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright MELBOURNE, July 12. The Acting-Federal Prime Minister, Mr W. A. Watt, has announced that it is not intended to give Freeman a public trial. It is alleged that Freeman is an American I.WAV., of German parentage. He was refused permission to land in America after deportation, and created a sensation in Australia by hunger-striking on the ship from which ho was not allowed to go ashore. As the result of this action, and tho public agitation which it caused, he was taken ashore in custody.
